Welcome Baby Jared!
So first off, I just love this family; I started working with them early this year when I shot 2yr old Dillen and then more recently when I shot Melissa's Maternity session. Last weekend I got to do the first session of many to come of baby Jared's first year. It was such a great day - this little man is so precious, I couldn't get enough of him! I was so impressed that at only two weeks old, this little guy was wide awake for almost the entire shoot - and in a great mood! Here are my favorite shots from the day!

To Race the Sun - Nashville Family Photography
I had a session with an adorable young family a couple weeks ago and due to a couple reschedules and snags along the way we ended up with less than an hour of good light to shoot mom, dad, and two kiddos. As it turns out...the last hour of light is always the best and we got some amazing shots of this sweet little family! Again guys, sorry the edit took a bit longer than necessary - I'm truly caught up now! Can't wait to meet the newest addition and get him in front of my camera as well! Here are my favorites from my shoot with the Crowe Family!

Come on Baby!
So I'm nearly caught up from not having a computer to edit on for over a MONTH! Apologies again to this super sweet family for taking so long on this edit - Hopefully I'll just have one more "I'm sorry it took so long" blog post before they are back to normal and my workload has evened out! We had a super successful day of shooting, even though sweet - camera-happy Dillen was not feeling up to par. I loved doing this shoot with Melissa - she is just glowing and overflowing with excitement for her soon-to-be-here little man! I can't wait to meet him guys, enjoy my favorites!!

Rosie Cheeks and Chunky Feet: Nashville, TN Children's Portrait Photographer
Meet Macey - Super sweet, super happy, super bubbly little girl with a huge personality! She was such a trooper - we tried to start this day off with pictures in the park. It was the perfect early morning shoot - it wasn't too hot, it was overcast, and baby-girl was in a great mood. About the time we pull in to start shooting, the sky opens up and drops about a million gallons of water on the very park that we were ready to make portrait history in...oh well. Time to improvise! It was a long day for this little one and after waiting out the rain - three changes of clothes - and a chaotic (middle of the road) shoot with constant running back and forth in between cars --- we all thought that the desirable park shots were just not going to happen. But Macey got a second wind thanks to some festive pinwheels and balloons and we ended up with a super successful shooting day (even if it was a little long) and Macey hung in there right to the end! Here are my favorites!

Erica and Drupal - Nashville, TN Wedding Photographer
First off I want to say thank you to Erica and Dru for bearing with me over the last few weeks - you see I had a major computer meltdown and the going was very slow in the beginning...I finally got my new computer up and running last weekend and I was able to fly through the last handful of shots from their wedding. Well guys I am finally done and I am so proud of these images, and I had an absolute blast at your wedding! I am so lucky to have been able to share that day with the two of you and your wonderful sweet families! Now for what you've been waiting for...my favorites - and your disc will be in the mail tomorrow!! :D

Love is Hot! - Nashville, TN Engagement Photography
I mean for real! Not only is this couple super hot for each other - but this day was scorching! I think it was somewhere around a thousand degrees outside and we spent oh so many hours in the sun. BUT - the result was amazing! Love these two, they are both quickly becoming two of my favorite people on the planet and I am so so glad that they have asked me to come to Destin with them in October to photograph their beach wedding! If these yummy pictures are any indication - it's going to be amazing! These are my favorites...within reason - I saved a few surprises for them on their disc. :) Enjoy!

Dillen: Smyrna, TN Children's Photographer
Meet Dillen, cute, full of energy, and super smart! I had the best time with this sweet family while taking pictures of their adorable two year old little girl! I love working with kids; it's very different than working with adults when it comes to portraits. I have a heavy preference for natural images, if you've worked with me - you know there is very little 'sit still and...smile.' Grown ups take some work before they loosen up in front of a camera. For me, it's almost easier with kiddos - everything you capture is natural, in the moment, honest expressions - because that's all they have. They don't know or care how they are 'supposed' to act in front of a camera...they just want to play. So I say to parents with young children, if you hire me to photograph them - don't worry if they are not looking at the camera, don't worry if they are playing in the dirt, if it makes them happy - let them do it. (This is by no means meant to apply to raising children...just photographing them) Because happy kids are the easiest ones to work with and they make the best pictures. As you can see below, Dillen played - she had fun the whole time and was so taken with an abandoned road and a puddle at the end that she didn't want to leave!

Brooke and Joe: Nashville, TN Engagement Photography
Brooke and I went to high school together but of course lost touch like everyone from high school does until facebook reunited us all in recent years. Of course I was thrilled when she contacted me interested in wedding photography. We got together two weeks ago to shoot their engagement pictures. We had a long but super fun day exploring the city and finding little nooks to snap some pictures in. Brooke hasn't changed since high school...I don't know how THAT'S fair! And Joe was so fun, and he LOVED to make her laugh. If you look closely Brooke is nearly on the verge of hysteria in almost every image. You'll notice our session was set in beautiful downtown Nashville.
I have to admit looking at these now tugs at my heart a bit...not only because the couple is adorable and so clearly crazy about each other but because many of the places in these photos are now underwater. The floods that devastated middle Tennessee last weekend has left our city in shambles, of course we'll recover, but it will take time and hard work to get our city back to the way it was. It's so odd to look at these pictures and think that we were just walking there, laughing, talking, snapping pictures...and now it's just a muddy submerged mess. I can only imagine what those who lost everything are going through - no. No actually, I can't imagine it. My heart goes out to them, my prayers, my thoughts - everything.
